i am so excited that my birthday & Christmas are just around the corner.

my fiance and i are traveling together this year to Pittsburgh, PA, where our hearts belong.

we are happy to be home to celebrate the Christmas Holiday with our family and friends.

what is your favorite thing about Christmas/Holiday Season?

Snuggled in warm clothes, thick socks, and blankets, drinking warm coffee and hot chocolate (homemade & Starbucks, of course; they make perfect Holiday drinks), baking the cookies and decorating Christmas tree, watching Christmas movies, Christmas shopping, wrapping the gifts, and put them underneath the tree, till the morning of Christmas exchanging the gifts, taking tons of pictures, the Christmas Cheer as when everyone you see is smiling and giving. When stranges on the street say "Merry Christmas!" as you walk by, the snow, snowmen, snowball fights, snow angels, i love everything about Christmas! what is their not to like about Christmas?

INGREDIENTS

4 fresh strawberries, hulled
5 fresh basil leaves
1 ounce vodka
1 ounce Chambord
1 ounce Grand Marnier
3 ounces cranberry juice

PREPARATION

Muddle strawberries and basil in shaker base.
Add other ingredients and shake with ice.
Use a fine strainer into a martini glass.
Garnish: Dust with black pepper and floating basil leaf.

i am very excited to share good news with you all.

he finally asked and i said YES!

i am looking for some really cute small diy projects for my bridesmaids that i am gonna ask to be part of my wedding. we have not decided on the date yet but we are talking about having a wedding in 2011, due to money and i need to find a job ASAP, obviously. i am very excited and i want to start the planning like now! it is never too early for planning, isn't it? :)

i found couple small projects for bridesmaids and they are fun! the projects are created by danni, ohhellofriend. it's an inspiration blog; i heart her blog and her creative outlet.

INGREDIENTS

Ice cubes
3 ounces (1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons) vodka
2 ounces (1/4 cup) apple schnapps
1/4 cup apple cider
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

PREPARATION

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes. Add the vodka, schnapps and cider; shake well.
In a shallow bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Moisten the rims of 2 champagne flutes and coat with the cinnamon sugar. Strain the cocktail into the flutes.

i am still loss at words.

erin, you left us too soon.

you truly lived your life to its fullest.

erin and i have been through thick and thin & had our ups and downs

since we both were 2 and 3.

i never ever imagined losing a friend this way.

i miss you, my best friend & my sister.

Erin has left us on a Saturday morning of October 10th, 2009 in a tragic car accident. She was one of the greatest friends anybody could have. She was well known by her beautiful smile that had touched so many hearts. Heaven is blessed with such a beautiful presence as we were with yours. May you be in a better place with your dad and grandparents.

DIY: Old Frame

I have wanted to share my DIY project that I did few months ago but I have been putting it off. Amazingly how procrastination can do to you.

I found this gold vintage frame at the flea market and bought it. I wanted to paint the frame like the others did theirs and I absolutely fell in love with the idea.

So, I spray painted the frame in Bahama Sea. The color is absolutely lovely and it came out great. Yet, it is sitting on the floor waiting for an inspiration on what to do with it, which I still have no clue, however, only 2 things came up on my mind.

Chalkboard or Cork-board?

Help me out making the decision unless you have a different thought.

Chocolate Martini

chocolate candies, chocolate cake, chocolate chips cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate mousse, chocolate frosting, chocolate fondue, hot chocolate, and chocolate as an alcoholic drink?!

i can't seem to get enough of chocolate.

i bet you can't either.

INGREDIENTS

Dry vermouth
Vodka (kept in the freezer)
Ground 62% semisweet or 70% bittersweet chocolate
Chocolate Liqueur

PREPARATION

Pour ¼ inch of vermouth, vodka, or water into a rimmed saucer. Place ¼ inch of the ground chocolate on a second saucer slightly larger than the rim of the glass.

Swirl each glass with a splash of vermouth, and pour it out. To create the chocolate rim, dip the rim of the glass in the vermouth, vodka, or water, then in the ground chocolate.

For each drink, pour 2 parts chocolate liqueur to 1 part vodka into a shaker with ice Shake and pour into the glass.

The Pumpkin Martini has long been a favorite cocktail for fall.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 oz Sylk Cream Liqueur
2 oz vanilla vodka
1/2 oz pumpkin liqueur or pumpkin spice syrup
1 tsp whipped cream
cinnamon stick for garnish

PREPARATION

Pour the Sylk Liqueur and vodka into a shaker filled with ice.
Shake well.
Add the pumpkin liqueur or syrup.
Shake again.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Top with a teaspoon of whipped cream.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 oz Smirnoff cranberry twist
1 tsp lemon juice
4 oz apple cider
1 oz cranberry juice

Garnish: apple slice
Rim: crushed graham cracker

PREPARATION

Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass rimmed with crushed graham cracker. Garnish with apple slice.

Last night, I was watching Woodstock Before&Then and it showed this photo, which was on the cover of the Woodstock album and movie poster. I was in awe and I knew I had to find it. I love this photo and the history of Woodstock. It is somewhat speechless and no words to explain it. I wish I was a Woodstock attendee.

p.s. after 40 years of a famous photo, the couple is still together! amazing.

i am feeling a strawberry daiquiri today.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup white sugar
4 ounces frozen strawberries
1/8 cup lime juice
1/2 cup lemon juice
3/4 cup rum
1/4 cup lemon-lime soda
6 cups ice

PREPARATION

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Add ice and blend until smooth. Pour into a cocktail glasses and garnish with fresh strawberries.

This is a great excuse for indulging in "mid-day" margaritas! :)

INGREDIENTS

Cupcakes:
1 box white cake mix
8 oz margarita mix (liquid)
2 oz tequila
1 oz Grand Marnier
3 egg whites
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 Tbsp grated lime zest

Lime Buttercream Icing:
8 Tbsp butter, softened
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 Tbsp lime juice (approx 2 fresh limes)
1 Tbsp margarita mix
1 tsp lime zest
5 cups powdered (confectioners’) sugar
cane sugar & fresh limes (for garnish)

PREPARATION

1. Preheat oven to 350º and prepare muffin pans.

2. Combine margarita mix, tequila, and Grand Marnier in a large glass and stir well.

3. In large bowl, combine cake mix, egg whites, lime zest, vegetable oil, and margarita mixture from step one. Stir ingredients together, then beat with an electric mixer on low to medium speed for approximately 2-3 minutes.

4. Spoon the batter into prepared muffin pans. Fill each cup/liner about 2/3 full.

5. Bake at recommended temperature on cake mix box (usually 325º - 350º) for 20 - 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.

Icing:
6. In a large bowl, combine butter, cream cheese, lime juice, margarita mix, and lime zest. Beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

7. Add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, and continue beating until smooth. If icing is too thin, add more powdered sugar, a couple tablespoons at a time.

8. Spread icing generously on each cooled cupcake* or use a pastry bag to frost. Sprinkle cane sugar around the edges of the cupcake for a “salt rimmed” look and garnish with lime wheels & wedges.

*Make sure to remove cupcakes from pan and cool completely before frosting.

Tip: Leftover frosting makes a great dip for fruit!
